Even though I was only in Warsaw for a little over 48 hours, we still managed to find some real gems in terms of places to eat. Make sure to check out my post on the first 24 hours here!
After being refused a table on our first night, (I think it was because they were full) our second night saw us ominously return to Brooklyn. This diner was simply spectacular and definitely worth the anticipation and wait.
To give you an idea of how amazing this place was, my starter (of chicken strips) was served with fries and the other one, being chicken tacos, arrived lavishly spread on a platter and stuffed with the freshest filling you could want, seasoned to perfection.
By the time it got to our mains, the burgers we had opted for were served with yet more fries. The desserts were much too good to miss out on as well and, although neither of us really had the space for it, we decided we just had to split the brownie, because that is always my favourite and needless to say it did not disappoint. Just LOOK at the size of it. A little more pricey than the first night, everything came to about £50 on the second night in the city – not exactly cheap but still not far from what we are used to paying for an evening meal out in London.
Pretty much unable to move after that, we headed to Panorama Sky Bar at the top of the Marriott Hotel. I assume that the view would have been really pretty on a clear day but on our visit you could see exactly nothing of the view due to a really dense Polish fog hanging just above the 40 story hotel. The weather never stops us from having a drink of course, with my sour bourbon based cocktail being served with pink cotton candy and a chocolate truffle. Cocktails at a bar like this in London would easily be £15 but over in Warsaw, view included, they were around £8 each.
On our final day in the city we looked at going to a chocolate cafe after visiting a fabulous one when in Prague. However, when we set foot inside it was very clear that the service was less than satisfactory and the place overrunning with groups of gossiping women. Leaving here empty handed we walked a couple of streets over to see what we could find and loandbehold on a little side street there was the Cheesecake Factory.
This place was empty and looked amazing to say the least. Sadly, it only provided us with pictures good for the gram, with the cheesecakes being really soggy bottomed and their hot drinks being much too sweet. The vase of meringue seashells were still less sweet than the drinks here.
As the the temperature dropped and darkness slowly descended on the city, we passed by a bar with a voluptuous lady standing outside, clad in cherries. Drawn inside by nothing more than intrigue, (honest), we discovered that Pijana Wisnia served only one drink; Cherry Liquor. You could have it hot or you could have it cold, with fruit or without, but they were the only variants. Seeking an alternative to mulled wine, we ordered two hot cups with fruit. Highly recommended, it tasted exactly how you would expect warm, cherry liquor to taste and slid down your cold throat in a velvety way, warming you from the heart, outwards.
With our whirlwind city break over, I would never usually include airport snacks in a food post, however, I simply have to give honorable mention to the hotdogs at Modlin Airport. With a wait time of about 15 minutes, these guys had some crazy serving options, including pineapple, onion and mayo and pickled cucumber, chili and ketchup.
With no fires available, we picked up some Biosaurus crispy snacks – basically dinosaur shaped crisps, which were presumably for children but strangely tasty.
Airport snacks aside, the food in Warsaw was super tasty and I would love to visit more of Poland, maybe in the warmer months and sample some traditional Polish delicacies. Have you been to Poland? What did you think of the food?

Right? I’m the exact same! I would like to have tried more traditional Polish food too but it was so cold, to try the risky looking stuff! 🤣 Maybe next time…

“Got 99 fries but the bitch ate 1” had me spitting my afternoon tea over my keyboard laughing! Too bad about the view from the Marriott… but that bourbon looks fantastic. And the food, my god, that is a lot that you got at the Brooklyn diner! Would you recommend Warsaw for a weekend trip? Not just the food, but the city itself?

It was pretty funny in their little things, that place. They were also showing the first ever Dracula film on the wall black and white on a projector – which was a nice touch. Overall I would definitely recommend Warsaw. A weekend is all you need to see most of it. I visited Thursday and Friday and left on Saturday afternoon. It was ample time to see everything 😍 I’d love to return to Poland to another city 🇵🇱 🌮 thank you so much for reading.

It was so so so very cold here but the food in Brooklyn was amazing! Being the explorer hogs that we are, we hadn’t eaten much when we were site seeing that day so we managed it. It really helped that the food was not greasy and it did not make us feel gross afterwards!

Wow, the food sounds delicious at Brookyln and just look at the portion sizes! I think I’d struggle woth three course but that dessert does look too good to miss, I love a good brownie.
Side note: I’m not sure if it was intentional but the brownie photo appears twice (above and below the bruger) –

It wasn’t intentional 😦 My blog seems to have added a bunch of pictures to my library a few times – and some seem to have popped up in my posts a few times too – been going through them so thank you for letting me know. As for the portions, they were really good ones to share. Biosaurus crisps need to be available in the UK – I wonder if any Polish shop in London sells them?

I visited Poland for the first time in November but for even less time than you! Warsaw is definitely somewhere I intend to go back to so I’ll keep some of these tips in mind 🙂

Haha sadly. Arrived Saturday, flew home Sunday evening. Not ideal but was out of annual leave and needed a trip somewhere!
