Winter Bucket List 2019~2020

I am a big fan of lists. I can make them about anything and everything. There is just so much satisfaction to be had from ticking something off or crossing an item out, and here on Ellie’s London it is no different.

As you may have seen, I do like to post summer and winter bucket lists of things I want to accomplish and what I want to do in that season. Whilst I don’t post a list for all seasons, I do combine autumn and winter together and spring and summer together to give me time to complete everything.

My winter bucket list runs from October 2019 and here are the things I would most like to get done or achieve before March 2020.

  1. Celebrate Bonfire NightI prefer Bonfire Night to Halloween as I favour the festivities, food and the fireworks instead of dressing up as something silly and eating sweets.
  2. Carve a PumpkinEven with that in mind, I do still love to carve a pumpkin or two. I’d really like to do a green one this year if I can find one.pumpkin-441203_960_720
  3. Tour London on an Open Topped BusPlainly because it is something I haven’t ever done and would like to try.
  4. Farhan’s BirthdayMy partner is turning the big 3 0 next year and we have been planning a big celebration, so hopefully everything comes off and we have a great time.
  5. Celebrate My BirthdayAll the way in February, next year I turn 26 and officially become closer to 30 than 20, how very grown up of me. It is literally everyone’s birthday in my family over winter too, from Grandma to me, to mum and dad to my boyfriend, even my cousins are all winter babies.
  6. Climb The o2 Arena – This is something that has been on my list for an absolute age and I have never got around to doing.IMG_20181216_113143
  7. Visit Christmas Markets in the UK – There are so many in and around London, I want to hit them up from basically mid November and get into the spirit of things, including the famously overpriced but lovely Winter Wonderland in Central London.
  8. Explore a Christmas Market in EuropeWith so many famous festive markets just a short flight away, I would like to head to maybe a German one to experience everything first hand.
  9. Make Gingerbread MenI have not made anything out of gingerbread since I was a teenager and would love to give it a go this year, including decorating the little figures with icing.IMG_20181225_144133.jpg
  10. Cook a Mini Christmas DinnerSince I am not cooking dinner for my family this year like in 2018, I would still love to make one for me and my partner in December, just because the process is so much fun.
  11. See More of the UK / Have Long Weekends AwayThis is something that will always be on my list. I have seen shockingly little of the country I live in and always want to explore new places even if it is just for the day. This year I have done quite well on this one, but I don’t want to stop just because it is winter.
  12. Get My Travel Scrap Book Up To DateThis one is quite nerdy I guess, or creative depending on your point of view. I have not been working on it over the summer but winter is here and creative nights in are my favourite.
  13. Go to the ZooIn recent years I seem to go to London Zoo twice a year. Once in summer for their carnival and once in winter as they often have really festive Christmas events on all through December.IMG_20190719_180625
  14. Free JumpingI tried this at the start of summer and had a blast; I would love to do it again.
  15. Celebrate Christmas and New YearI will be planning my New Year celebrations soon and I already know what, where and how I will be celebrating Christmas this year, but I need to make sure it is fabulous.
  16. Generate an Income as a Freelance WriterI am officially working full time on becoming a paid freelancer. I would love to get the ball rolling and generate a bit of an income from this by the end of the year, and hopefully be able to grow my travel fund in the process.
  17. Cook More Winter DishesI love the food we get to eat in winter and this year I want to experiment with more dishes like I did in the summer. I also want to try making more soups now it is the season.IMG_20180914_064229_716
  18. Wacky Places in LondonLondon has so many bars where you can try mini golf whilst you eat or play board games whilst having a pizza and I really want to try this as it always looks like so much fun. There’s also a Cheese Bar in North London which I am dying to try.
  19. See More Shows on the StageI really accelerated this one over summer this year, seeing a whole host of shows and plays on stage. I want to continue this into the winter as they make for a great night or afternoon out.
  20. Go Self Hosted With my BlogI feel like I am finally ready to take the plunge with this one and I really want to step up my blog in the next few months, ready for 2020.

Do you like to make to do lists? What are your goals for this winter? Let me know in the comments below.

  2. Such a lovely list. I have one big trip planned for December and I am mostly looking forward to escaping the cold. πŸ™‚ I also plan on making some cookies and make lovely dinner, drink mulled wine at Christmas markets and decorate our apartment in Christmas spirit.

    1. I love getting into the festive spirit 😍 The food and the decor are some of the best things about winter (at least for me!) I wish I was headed somewhere warm in December but I think a Christmas market will be nice! X

      1. Same here, food and decor. πŸ™‚ It will be first time for me going some place warm during winter time and I am really excited. Maybe next year I will go some place where there will actually be snow and winter wonderland feeling.

  3. I love this list! Think I may have to make one myself as it’s such a good motivator!! We did a twilight climb up the o2 last year and it was amazing. We timed it just right so the sun was setting as we got to the top.
Also with self hosted – do it! It was the best decision I’ve made. I’m still not making any money from my blog (one day!!!) but I’ve got the freedom to do whatever I want!

    1. They are such a good motivation to get out and do things, at least they are for me b/c when it drops below about 18 degrees I never want to go outside! That sounds like an amazing experience for the o2 – I really want to arrange that this season! It’s so great to hear self hosting is working out for you – I have been making logos and graphics so I feel more ready to get going! x

    1. Lots before the end and lots into early next year – got to keep active even in the ‘less exciting’ part of winter – AKA after Christmas πŸ˜€ At least I have my birthday to look forward to! Thank you for reading πŸ™‚

  4. Aww I love this posts and I love lists too! We could be besties. So much for me to comment on haha! OK, first things is that I also want to go on the open top bus in London (can’t believe I haven’t done this yet). Winter Wonderland is just incredible and if you’re on the look out for a new Christmas market and a new city to visit – come to Leeds! I will be more than happy to show you round πŸ™‚

    1. Hehe thank you so much – I’m so glad that you enjoyed the post. The open top bus is just one of those things that seems to be pushed to the bottom of the to do list, all the time! I need to keep reminding myself to do it! Oh wow, Leeds sounds so good – I have heard such great things! I was looking at Bath (?). I’m heading up north (Newcastle) for Christmas so maybe it will warrant a stop on the way?!

    1. When it comes to winter, the food is one of the only things I like about the season – it’s the perfect excuse for all things hearty! β™₯ Thank you for reading my post πŸ™‚ x

  5. Great ideas, and I LOVE the idea of splitting the lists by season. Can I make another London suggestion? When it gets dark earlier the Jack the Ripper tours are sooooo creepy and interesting (if you haven’t already done one.)

    1. Ooooh are they? When I first moved to London I spent a lot of time over East side and heard great things about them. I’ve never done one but it’s definitely one to think about! 😍 I made a London bucket list when I started the blog which I think is time to revisit! Thank you for reading my post!

  6. You’ve got so much to celebrate and do this Winter El! It’s mad! Not to mention you climbing the O2 arena and less for you to clean up after cooking this Christmas πŸ˜‰ I think the end of the year is gonna be one hell of a special for you. Cant wait to hear how you got on with ticking off this bucket list

    1. I really have and looking at this list makes me excited for the coming months, instead of just making me want to stay indoors at all times. I am looking forward to the Christmas festivities for sure – and I really want to make a go of climbing the o2! Thank you for the support as always Johnny β™₯ πŸ™‚
