My 100th Blog Post: The Real Neat Blogger Award

Even though my blog-post-schedule was filled into January 2020, when I received the nomination for the The Real Neat Blogger Award from the lovely Chloe, writer of one of my favourite blogs; Writing The Blues AwayI could think of no better time to do such a wonderful piece than for my 100th blog post. Not only is Chloe a great writer, she is also an amazing illustrator, as you will see from her blog header when you visit her site.

Similar to Chloe, when I received this nomination it was not an award that I was familiar with. The blogging world is filled with fantastic, supportive awards just like this one and it always feels so lovely to be nominated, as it is coming from your fellow bloggers/writers, and I am super thankful to Chloe for my nomination. The rules for the award are:

  • Display the award logo
  • Thank the blogger that nominated you and link to their blog
  • Answer the questions from the blogger who nominated you
  • Nominate up to ten bloggers, asking them seven questions

Chloe’s Questions:

What places are on your travel bucket list?

I honestly have about 300 things on my travel bucket list which is crazy. I am basically open to trying anywhere, and often pick my destinations based on various promotions on flights. My top places though are Azerbaijan, Oman and New Zealand. I would also love to visit Saudi Arabia, now that they have introduced tourist visas, as I love exploring the Middle East, and I’m very curious what such a private country would be like.

What is your guilty pleasure?

Does Christmas count? Although I have never been ‘allowed’ to put my tree up before December, I love Christmas so much. I love lots of lights and tinsel on a tree, even though tinsel gets a bad reputation! I love to see someone all cosy in a Christmas jumper as well. If Christmas doesn’t count, then I’d say cheesy pop music from the early 2000’s – that stuff is jammin’…

What is your favourite season?

Summer. All day long. Summer. Spring is awesome as everything starts to grow again, autumn is cool with all the pretty colours and winter has Christmas and my birthday, but I loathe being cold and I hate the cold weather. I think I’m actually cold blooded, as I need sunshine to warm me through on a daily basis. Wrapping up in fluffy jumpers is great, but it just isn’t the same when your bones are aching with the cold and your nose if frozen.

If you had to dye your hair another colour, what would it be?

I have never dyed my hair a crazy colour and I really wouldn’t want to. (I just don’t think I have the face!) If I had to though, maybe I would try like a Tiffany Blue or a really dark maroon red.

What item in your wardrobe is your favourite?

I have a wide legged, black jumpsuit with a big silver belt, which I love to wear because it looks great with flat shoes which is always epic in terms of foot-comfort. I’m personally here for anything you can wear flat shoes with on a night out! In winter, I also love my super warm coat from The Kooples.

If you could only watch one film for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Probably the film I have seen the most in my life and that would be Titanic. I am now wondering if this would be my guilty pleasure?

What is your favourite blog post that you have written?

I love my ‘Unconventional Travel Tips’ series on my blog because I like to help people in their adventures. My favourite post though would need to be when I visited Istanbul. There is simply so much to do there, one trip was not enough, so instead of writing about what I did, I wrote about what was still left to do.

My Questions:

If you you had the attention of the whole world for 30 whole seconds, what you would tell everyone?

What is in your fridge right now? You are not allowed to go and check.

If you could un-invent one thing, what would it be and why?

What do you first notice about someone you are attracted to?

What is your favourite sound?

Which transport method do you hate the most?

What do you think people do too much of today?

My Nominations:

As always with these awards it is super tricky to nominate people as lots of people have been nominated for various things – but here are my nominations (only if you feel like it, of course!)

Jaya

Jenni

Johnny

Amy

Claire

Kim

Naomi

If anyone else would like to do this post, or indeed answer the questions I have asked, please consider this your nomination as well, or let me know your answers in the comments below.

  1. So fun! Congrats on your 100th post and this super fun award. What a great way to build community in the blogging world. New Zealand is also super high on my bucket list. And I love your Christmas obsession. Your tree is too cute!

    1. ♥ Thank you so much – it’s only tiny but it makes sense to keep it small given that I have a studio flat! A 6ft one would be a bit overwhelming (although I’d love one!) Thank you for reading my post – I think New Zealand would be fab! x

    1. Thank you so much ♥ It is such a lovely award for sure! Flat shoes are the best!! It can be so hard to find a great pair that go with outfits for nights out – either the outfit works but needs heels, or the flats are great and go with nothing! It’s a fortunate mix! x 😂

  2. What a way to begin my day being included in your nominees! Thank you.
Biggest congratulations on reaching 100 posts. I know how wonderful it is to compare first post to newest post and see how your writing has changed and grown. I love your Christmas tree from last year, and hope to see a picture of the one you have for this year (if you do one again).
I look forward to answering your questions in a post of my own. I like your last question the most; it will be challenging thinking one one thing I think people do too much of. 🙂

    1. You are most welcome ♥ Thank you for your kind words and well wishes. I have already done a tree this year – it is the same one, with a few decorations added but I live in a different flat now, so I have it balanced on top of the printer! << creative solutions for space issues in studio flats! I'm glad you like the sound of my questions – I look forward to reading your post! x

    1. I love that! I was the same with Istanbul for many years – it was my layover place for ages and then one year I stayed like three days in the city. Is it weird that these the airport can give the vibe of the whole city if they do it right!? ♥ Hopefully more travels in 2020 – thank you for reading my post x

    1. Thank you so much! This year it does not look quite as cute! I moved into a studio flat so this year the tree is standing on top of the printer (which is rarely used and is covered up!) 😁😂 The Middle East is such an amazing place – hopefully more places to explore in 2020. Thank you for reading ♥
