2021: The Year Ahead

Setting goals and objectives at the start of a new year in the middle of the same old pandemic may seem a little redundant, but it couldn’t not be done. With 2020 going accordingly to exactly nobody’s plan, I actually had a lot to be grateful for. As 2021 is still only once around the sun, instead of trying to catch up on everything I didn’t get to do in 2020, I want to try and move forward with the goals I set.

Getting Married

My main objective for 2021 is to successfully plan our wedding. So far, I have been trying to enjoy every moment of the planning because otherwise it would all be over in 24 short hours. While the framework for the wedding is set, stay tuned on the blog this year (hopefully) for more wedding inspired posts.

Travelling

Unsurprisingly, I don’t actually have any trips booked at the moment. I like to try and go somewhere for my birthday but, being in just a matter of days after this post goes live, it’s pretty doubtful I’ll get to go anywhere to celebrate. I do hope to travel to Pakistan this year to visit my husband-to-be’s family. Ironically, Pakistan has been on my bucket list for many years now since I saw the stunning Hunza Valley on TV as a teenager, so what better time to explore the country?

Freelancing

One of the biggest reasons I was missing from the blogosphere in 2020 was because I spent so much of my time ‘building the foundations’ for my life as a freelance writer. In 2021, I want to continue to work towards the goal of writing full time. I definitely still have a long way to go until I’m anywhere near where I’d like to be, but the progress I’ve made in the past 12 months is really encouraging me to continue towards my long term writing goals.

Blogging

I never set up my blog to be a ‘blogger’. Instead, I set up my blog back in 2018 to get me into the habit of writing on a regular basis. While contemplating if I should take my blog self-hosted, I realised that this was not what I wanted. Rather, I wanted a website to showcase my work as a professional, freelance writer which is why I have set up my new site. That said, in 2021 I would love to have more regular updates on my blog, so visitors to my website can get a little insight into who I am as a person, without being bored by an over official portfolio.

Health

I said, at the start of 2020, that I would not be joining a gym. However, since moving a few doors down from a Marriott Health Club with a lovely swimming pool and sauna – I have *technically* joined a gym – even though I have never set foot near any machines. I love swimming and it has been great to get back in the water and build up my stamina again. The post-swim saunas and steams definitely help motivate me in the chilly winter evenings as well.

Who else is cautiously optimistic for what 2021 may hold? Let me know in the comments below what you have planned for the rest of 2021.

    1. Thank you! Fingers crossed we will be able to do a bit more in 2021 than we did last year! Though we did cram a lot in to the three months we had at the start of the year! 😎😁
